Back to HomeWho We Are
How Rung Finance came to be
Rung Finance was founded in 2018 by a small group of educators and financial practitioners who kept hearing the same thing from people in their forties and fifties: that money felt confusing, that courses were aimed at younger audiences, and that most financial content was either too basic or too technical to be useful.
The founders had spent years working in adult education and community banking across northern Thailand. They saw a clear gap between what people needed to know and what was actually available to them. So they built something different — structured financial learning designed specifically for midlife adults, with a pace and language that respected the reader's experience and time.
The name "Rung" reflects this approach. In Thai, a rung is a step — the kind you climb one at a time, steadily, without rushing. That idea of level-by-level progress shapes everything we do.
Our Mission
What we're here to do
We want every person who joins one of our programmes to finish with a clearer, calmer relationship with their money. Not perfect — clear. The kind of clarity that comes from having the right words for your situation and understanding what your options actually are.
We are not a financial advice firm. We are educators. That means we explain things, we answer questions, and we point toward licensed professionals when the time comes to make real decisions. We hold that boundary with care.
Our programmes are built around Thailand's financial landscape — Thai banks, Thai tax considerations, Thai retirement options. We do not teach abstract international theory. We teach what is useful where you live.
Our Values
The principles we work by
Patience first
We never rush. Sessions are planned to give ideas room to settle. If something needs repeating, we repeat it without fuss.
Listening over lecturing
Our learners bring decades of life experience. We shape each session around their questions, not just a fixed script.
Warmth without pressure
There is no selling in the classroom. We are not here to push products or create urgency. We are here to help you think more clearly.
Full transparency
We say what we know and we say what we don't. When a question goes beyond education into advice, we name that clearly.
Locally grounded
Everything we teach is set in the context of life in Thailand — Thai banks, Thai language documents, Thai pension structures.
Education, not advice
We are educators, not advisors. We build understanding and always recommend a licensed professional for personal financial decisions.
The Team
The people who run the sessions
A small, experienced team — each member bringing a different thread of knowledge to the programme.
Pichaya Kasem
Lead Educator & Co-founder
Seventeen years in adult education and community finance across Chiang Mai province. Pichaya writes most of the course materials and leads the introductory programme.
Nattaporn Wongchai
Financial Planning Educator
A background in banking and Thai pension structures. Nattaporn leads Building the Terraces and contributes to the retirement-focused sessions of the full programme.
Siriporn Rungsang
Programme Coordinator
Siriporn manages the day-to-day of each cohort — materials, scheduling, and the small things that make learning comfortable. She is usually your first point of contact.
Standards
How we maintain quality in everything we teach
Content reviewed annually
All course materials are reviewed each year against current Thai banking regulations, tax rules, and pension guidance to keep the content accurate and current.
Privacy by default
No personal financial information shared in sessions is passed to third parties. Participant data is held in accordance with Thailand's PDPA provisions.
Qualified educators only
Sessions are delivered by people with formal backgrounds in education or finance — never junior staff working from a script.
Clear scope boundaries
We maintain a firm distinction between education and regulated financial advice. Learners are always directed to licensed professionals when personal recommendations are appropriate.
Participant feedback loop
Every cohort completes a feedback form. We read every response and use the patterns to refine pacing, language, and materials for the next group.
Secure data handling
Registration data and contact information are stored securely with access limited to the immediate team. We do not use participant data for marketing purposes.
Our Approach
Financial education designed for a different generation
Most financial courses are built for people in their twenties — people with decades ahead of them, who can afford to make mistakes, try different approaches, and course-correct over time. The frameworks, the language, and even the examples tend to assume a younger starting point.
Rung Finance exists because that approach does not serve people well in their forties, fifties, and beyond. At that stage, the questions change. The timeline changes. The priorities change. A person in their late forties is not thinking about compound interest over forty years — they're thinking about the next ten to fifteen years, about family obligations, about what happens when work becomes less certain.
Our programmes are designed with that lens. We focus on practical understanding — what each type of savings account actually offers, how Thai pension provisions work in practice, what healthcare costs realistically look like as people age, and how to think about these things clearly without a financial background.
We work in English because many of our learners are long-term expatriates or Thai nationals who are more comfortable with financial vocabulary in English. The Thai financial context remains central. We are not teaching international finance theory — we are teaching the financial landscape that our participants actually live in, at a pace that respects where they are in life.
